Hace aproximadamente un mes atrás recibimos un llamado telefónico desde el noticiero de Javier Solórzano de la Radio Trece de Ciudad de México. El hecho es que de alguna manera, en dicho noticiero escucharon la música de SOFIA, se enteraron de la iniciativa de donar los derechos de On My Own y decidieron realizar una entrevista telefónica con la banda.

El hecho motivó de sobremanera a un personaje incógnito que decidió regalar 4 pasajes aéreos a diferentes ciudades estratégicas en el mundo para que SOFIA promocionara su disco.
De este modo es que Alan pudo visitar México las semanas recién pasadas y viene llegando con noticias increíbles.

Alan: Bueno, antes que nada tengo que decir que la comida Mexicana es lo mejor de la vida y que ya extraño las tortillas, tacos, tamales, posole, etc… y que el Atole de Cajeta deberían importarlo a nuestro país porque es una delicia jaja!. Por otro lado, antes de hablar de SOFIA les doy las gracias a mis nuevos amigos mexicanos, son la gente más acogedora que he conocido y ya no puedo esperar para verlos nuevamente.
El hecho es que yo me fui de Chile sin plan y sin nada de nada salvo el teléfono de Jorge, un amigo mexicano que conocí en Australia que no veía hace 5 años, y el contacto de la Radio Trece que nos había entrevistado. Pero como algunos sabrán soy la persona más aventurera que hay y amo viajar a la deriva así que partí.
Resumiendo, Jorge me presentó a mucha gente que a su vez me presentó a gente que llevó a que, primero, me entrevistaran en el programa de David Rincon para Radio Exa Querétaro. La entrevista duró aproximadamente media hora y fue extra entretenida porque David es muy energético como locutor y además se motivó con la banda y puso “On My Own” e “Invisible”. Apenas terminó la entrevista tocaron la puerta de la cabina, entró alguien y me dijo:
“¿Tu eres Alan de SOFIA?..”
-Yo le dije extrañado: El mismísimo, por que?…
-Me dijo: “Hola, soy Aldo Gonzalez de Exa Tv y creo que su música está “¡bien chida!””.
-Le dije: “¿Que?”
-Me dijo: “¡Pues bien chida güey! ¡Que esta bien buena!”
-Yo: “¡Gracias!”
-El: “De hecho quisiera invitarte a mi programa en Exa para que toquen en vivo…”

Y así se dieron las cosas. Del mismo modo salimos en radio RMX que es la radio del rock alternativo de Guadalajara y muchas ciudades aledañas incluyendo algunas ciudades de USA. En esa radio Eduardo Vargas (en la foto conmigo) presentó el disco, puso On My Own y les gustó tanto que nos pusieron en la pre selección de bandas extranjeras para el festival 212 que se realiza en Guadalajara en septiembre. ¡El 212 es el segundo festival de música mas importante de México después del “Vive Latino”!

Para SOFIA la semilla en México fue sembrada y ahora queda regarla y cuidarla. Dentro de los planes de la banda está una visita a ese hermoso país dentro de los próximos meses. Importantes locales como el Foro Alicia o el Bar Plastiko ya han confirmado su interés en traer a SOFIA. Ya tendremos noticias concretas así que sigan atentos a sofiarock.cl porque aquí anunciaremos todo lo que vaya sucediendo.

About a month ago we received a phone call from the news station on Radio Trece By Javier Solórzano of Mexico City. The fact is that somehow they heard about SOFIA’s music, and they learned about the band’s initiative to donate the rights of “On My Own” to the Chilean red cross and decided to make a telephone interview with the band.
After this happened, an incognito character decided to give us four tickets to various strategic cities in the world for promoting our album “Dayenu”.
Thus, it is that Alan was able to visit Mexico last week and is just coming up with incredible news.

Alan: Well, first of all I have to say that Mexican food is best ever and I already miss the tortillas, tacos, tamales, posole, etc … and that they should import “Atole de Cajeta” to our country because it is a delight haha!. Moreover, before talking about SOFIA, I must thank my new Mexican friends who are the most welcoming people I have ever met and I can not wait to see them again.

The fact is that I left Chile with no plan and absolutely nothing except Jorge’s phone number, a Mexican friend I met in Australia who I had not seen in five years, and the contact of “Radio Trece” who had interviewed us. But, as some will know, I am the most adventurous person and I love to travel without plans, so I left.

In short, Jorge introduced me to many people who in turn introduced me to other people that led to an interview by David Rincon from “Radio Exa Querétaro”. The interview lasted approximately half an hour and it was extra fun because David is very energetic as an announcer and also liked the band and put “On My Own” and “Invisible”. Just finishing the interview, someone touched the door of the booth, came in and told me
- Are you Alan from SOFIA? ..”
- I said intrigued: The very same, why? …
- He said, “Hi, I’m Aldo Gonzalez from Exa TV and I think your music is “real chida!”. ”
- I said: “What? ”
- He said, “Well, chida wey! That is very good!”
- Me: “Oh, Thanks! ”
- He: “Actually I would like to invite you to my Exa program to play live … ”

And this is how things started coming. Like this, we appeared on “RMX radio” which is the alternative rock radio in Guadalajara and many surrounding cities including some U.S. cities. In this radio Eduardo Vargas (pictured with me) had the album and played On My Own and they liked it so much that they put us in the pre-selection of foreign bands for the 212 Festival to be held in Guadalajara in September. The 212 is the second most important music festival in Mexico after “Vive Latino”!

For SOFIA, the seed was planted in Mexico and now needs watering and care. Within the band plans is a visit to this beautiful country in the coming months. Important places like the Foro Alicia or the Bar Plastiko have already confirmed their interest in bringing SOFIA.
